| High on a hill overlooking both harbors, the newly restored Hygeia House has ten rooms, each with a private bath and water view. On the water and just steps from the beach, the Hygeia House offers tranquility in a fabulous location. While the building was "modernized" with bathrooms, electricity and
efficient heating, it continues to honor the past and has become something
of a museum honoring the generations of Champlins who are so much a part of
its history.
Much of the original furniture remains in the inn, enhancing the authenticity of the experience. Original portraits grace the walls in guest rooms named for specific family members. Dr. Champlin's medical bags and school papers are on display in the room named for him, and in the room named for Bella, his daughter, are letters she wrote at the turn of the century. |
